Great question… primarily to deter crime and unsociable behaviour, gather concrete evidence for law enforcement and insurance and monitor your property remotely which is useful for checking in on loved ones and pets.

Visible cameras discourage intruders from targeting your property in the first place, while continuous monitoring provides essential peace of mind. Some insurance companies even provide a discount if you have CCTV or home security around your property.

In quiet areas, CCTV acts as a powerful deterrent against opportunistic crimes. Secluded, low-traffic streets are frequently targeted by burglars assuming neighbours are away or less vigilant and damage to your vehicle can happen anywhere, even on a quiet driveway.

Modern surveillance setups offer benefits far beyond simple break-in prevention:

Evidence for Disputes: Footage supports police investigations and simplifies insurance claims for property damage or vehicle vandalism.

Opportunistic Deterrence: Criminals often scout quiet, unobserved neighbourhoods. Visible cameras make your home a harder target, discouraging package theft and trespassing.

Package and Mail Tracking: Video doorbells help monitor your letterbox and catch porch pirates, ensuring safe delivery of parcels.

Remote Monitoring: You can monitor your driveway, outbuildings, and gates via smartphone apps while at work or on holiday.

Our technicians first conduct an on-site assessment to see what you need and to offer any advice if you are not sure. Once you have chosen your CCTV, we install them for you and ensure your system is fully operational with minimal disruption to you.

In most cases, if continuous power is not required, there is no need to drill through your wall or cause any additional mess. Our technician will assist you with app setup on your phone or tablet and ensure everything works properly and you are familiar with the settings.

You will need to have a Wi-Fi router at your home or business – ie: what you connect to the internet with with your phone or laptop. The one exception would be if you are choosing one of our remote, 4G LTE cellular cameras, in which case they do not need to be connected to Wi-Fi as they use their own cellular connection.

We recommend your router has a minimum of 5 Mbps upload speed per HD camera to ensure the best operation, for 4K cameras an upload speed of around 25 Mbps per camera is recommended. To test your router internet connection speed, go to: www.speedtest.net using a device connected to your Wi-Fi router.

You will also need a mobile phone or tablet, either iPhone or Android capable of downloading apps from the Apple App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) – so you will need an account on either of those Apps stores (NB: CCTV apps are FREE). The app enables you to view your camera as well as stored footage if you have added a micro SD card or NVR (Network Video Recorder).

Yes, our systems include secure remote access via mobile apps or web portals, allowing you to view your cameras anytime, from anywhere in the world!

Most of our outdoor CCTV cameras are solar-powered and either have a built-in solar panel or are supplied with a separate/removable solar panel. These solar power panels are the latest power technology and do not require full sunshine, simple daylight is enough to power your CCTV every day, 365 days a year.

Some cameras do require constant mains power, particularly if they are operating continuous rather than reacting to movement or are indoors. Occasionally we might recommend continuous power and will ensure your installation is as clean as possible with any power lead routed as best as possible.

Yes, most cameras require a Micro SD card for storing videos but not for basic access/monitoring. We can supply you with a Micro SD card at a very competitive price and install it with your camera.

You can also have an internal storage system if you prefer, these are called NVR’s (Network Video Recorders) and act like a recorder for all your cameras. Ask us if you would like more information.

Please note a Micro SD cards is not included in the standard price but only cost approximately £10 for a 32GB card.

All cameras come with a minimum 12-month warranty against mechanical/electronic defects. For more information see our Terms & Conditions page.

Wi-Fi security cameras are generally highly reliable for both residential and commercial use, provided they have a strong signal. However, their dependability is directly tied to your network strength, and unlike wired CCTV they can be susceptible to drop-outs. However, the disruption and cost to install wired CCTV is of course much greater so it is a trade-off as with anything. If you have reliable internet in your home or place of business, reliability should not be an issue.

The first thing to try if your Wi-Fi CCTV isn’t connecting, is rebooting both your camera and router by unplugging them for 30 seconds and plugging them back in. Most connection drops are caused by router drop-outs, poor signal or network frequency conflicts.

All our cameras come with accompanied apps that allow you to access the cameras feed and recordings. The apps have comprehensive troubleshooting information.

Modern Wi-Fi cameras feature extremely robust encryption and are very secure as long as you use a strong password (which we will assist you with).

Theoretically a wireless jammers could be used to purposely interfere with your camera’s connection to the router, however this is not an everyday occurance and if you think about it, a wired camera could have its wire cut which would render it completely inoperable so it’s all relevant.

To mitigate all types of Wi-Fi drops out, we recommend adding a local Micro SD storage card to the camera (not included) regardless of whether there is a Wi-Fi connection or not.

Now we are entering a huge can of worms! For the most part domestic CCTV usage is exempt from GDPR Data Protection rules, however you can find out comprehensive information by visiting the Information Commissioner’s Office at the following web pages:
